Role model for digital quality journalism: "OK, America?" podcast hosts receive the scoop Award 2025
Hamburg, July 9, 2025 - This year's prestigious scoop Award goes to Rieke Havertz and Klaus Brinkbäumer for the podcast "OK, America?". The award ceremony will take place as part of the scoopcamp on September 10, 2025 at SPACE in Hamburg. The scoopcamp is the annual specialist conference for publishers, organized by Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft with its nextMedia.Hamburg initiative and leading media companies. The conference is dedicated to current solutions for financing journalism. Tickets for the event are available at www.scoopcamp.de.
Excellent analysis and digital distribution: "OK, America?" as a source of inspiration
Together with the scoopcamp board of twelve leading media companies, nextMedia.Hamburg is honoring two outstanding media personalities with the scoop Award in a format that exemplifies journalistic excellence and digital distribution. "OK, America?", a podcast of the DIE ZEIT brand, provides in-depth analyses of US politics from a German perspective - clever, continuous and journalistically precise. Klaus Brinkbäumer and Rieke Havertz, whose personality and expertise carry the format, play a decisive role in its success .
In terms of profitability, "OK, America?" also shows how a loyal community can be built up through journalistic quality and clear positioning - and how this can contribute to the branding and refinancing of journalistic products. Recently, archive episodes of the podcast have been transferred to a paid model and new revenue streams are thus being intelligently tested.
"This combination makes the podcast an exciting format with exemplary character - for media, brands and audiences alike. If you want to understand the USA, you can't get past Rieke Havertz and Klaus Brinkbäumer," emphasizes Dr. Nina Klaß, Head of nextMedia.Hamburg and responsible for the scoopcamp and the award.
