As a leader in communications, outdoor and online advertising, Ströer has taken steps towards a more sustainable future.

Ströer is an international innovation driver with 100 locations worldwide, active in the communications and content business and operating advertising and dialog marketing. Ströer is an important economic driver and successful media company for Hamburg. Conversely, the Hanseatic city is a flagship for Ströer, especially with regard to its sustainability strategy, because a lot is happening in Hamburg's urban space and sustainable projects can be implemented quickly.
The Group is pursuing ambitious sustainability goals: Ströer aims to be climate-neutral by 2025. In the area of the environment, Ströer is strongly committed to doing its part to achieve the UN's 1.5-degree target. The company is aiming for net zero by 2050 and plans to significantly reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. This goal is to be achieved through a strong focus on reducing energy demand, switching to renewable energy sources and purchasing climate-friendly goods and services.
Ströer is focusing more strongly on the digitalization of out-of-home (OOH) systems, as this can reduce material consumption and waste disposal. For example, it has recently become possible to replace individual broken panels of a public video screen instead of a complete screen. The digital public video screens are also operated exclusively with emission-free green electricity.
However, sustainability at Ströer goes beyond the environmental aspect and also concerns the social aspect of sustainability. As an employer, the company values diversity and is committed to gender equality. Ströer tackles social issues by supporting numerous NGOs. Networks and projects such as Welcoming OUT and EmpowHer offer employees space for exchange and personal growth. Ströer is also part of a corporate alliance that is committed to actively promoting gender equality in its companies.
Last but not least, Ströer also offers its customers sustainable solutions that make both an ecological and social contribution. This also includes supporting certified climate protection projects and providing digital city information systems as an official warning multiplier, e.g. in the event of storm surges in Hamburg.

The Welcoming Out initiative is committed to greater acceptance of queer diversity under the patronage of Equal Opportunities Senator Katharina Fegebank. With the support of numerous Hamburg institutions and companies, the initiative provides information on sexual orientation, intersexuality and gender identity. Anyone wearing the Welcoming Out accessory shows others that they need not fear negative reactions if they come out.

Hamburg artists and creative professionals can currently apply for the MoinKultur! poster competition. A diverse jury will then select the motifs that will be exhibited on Ströer's media carriers in the Hanseatic city. Art and culture for everyone in the city!

"Hamburg dreht das" is a joint campaign by many large Hamburg companies, including Ströer, to motivate Hamburg residents to save energy. Citizens can get tips on the website and receive information on where to find state aid and support services.

In general, it can be said that the traditional advertising industry, with its constant pressure on consumption and the use of resources, is not seen as the epitome of sustainability. Both social and ecological aspects are repeatedly criticized.
Ströer, as a leading communications, outdoor and online advertising company, has taken recognizable steps to move towards a more sustainable future.
From its efforts to use more energy-efficient technologies in its advertising formats to initiatives aimed at reducing waste and increasing circularity of resources, Ströer is showing that responsibility and business success can go hand in hand.
"To move towards a bright future, collaborative projects with NGOs and allies that create visibility for sustainability issues play a very important role," Catharina Enderlein, Head of Media Creation.
