Rocket Beans TV

Hamburg's diverse cityscape is a great source of inspiration for the Rocket Beans. Whether diverse neighborhoods, innovative start-ups and companies, award-winning restaurants or iconic pubs: ideas and creative minds are everywhere.

What do beans have to do with entertainment? Quite a lot, if Daniel Budiman, EtienneGardé, ArnoHeinisch, NilsBomhoff and SimonKrätschmer are behind it. The five got together in 2006, founded Rocket Beans Entertainment GmbH in 2011 and Rocket Beans TV in 2012, revolutionizing the gaming and streaming industry.

Because Arno was already successful as a producer in Hamburg, the other beans followed suit and chose Hamburg, or more precisely Ruhrstraße, as their new home. And the foundation stone for a new Hamburg success story was laid ...

Five creative minds take the plunge and start their own business: What once began as the program Game One quickly became an entire channel with countless formats that quickly built up a passionate community with authentic content - a success story made in Hamburg.

Creativity through Hamburg's diversity

Daniel "Budi" Budiman, presenter and shareholder of RBTV

The diversity of Hamburg has been a great source of inspiration for the Rocket Beans since the very beginning. Whether diverse neighborhoods, innovative start-ups and companies, award-winning gastronomy or iconic pubs: ideas and creative minds lie dormant everywhere.

In Hamburg, pop culture, subculture and mainstream are close together and easily accessible. The result is a unique melting pot.

The road to success

The history of the beans would be inconceivable without good old music television. To be more precise: if MTV had not had the show "Game One" (and before that the TV channel Giga), the Rockets Beans would not exist in their current form.

This mainstay was their main project from 2006 and when MTV pulled the plug on the show at the end of 2014, the beans decided to take the bold step of producing on their own for their YouTube channel. The community played a crucial role in this: not only did their support and loyalty help, but they also supported the beans financially as the founding of their own internet channel drew closer. Since then, the community and creators have been closely interwoven, with fans consuming and commenting on the content and helping to shape it in their own way.

Just as the Rocket Beans maintain a special relationship with their community, the media capital of Hamburg has a special significance for them as their adopted home: After their beginnings in Ruhrstraße, they moved via Waterloohain to Heinrichstraße, where the beans still have their headquarters today.

Due to their immense growth, they now occupy several residential buildings next to each other. Their offices are quaint, very individually designed and reflect what the Rocket Beans are like: colorful and diverse, diverse and inclusive. They are located in the center of the Schanze, at the pulse of the city, which inspires and guides them.

As the development of the streaming and gaming industry is constantly presenting new challenges, the Rocket Beans now have several mainstays: After taking the big step towards diversification at the end of 2021, Rocket Beans TV no longer broadcasts live 24/7, but instead focuses on fixed (live) formats and video on demand. At the same time, commissioned productions, in-house artist management and even a fashion label are playing an increasingly important role. Hamburg's diversity is a constant source of inspiration and the Beans are a crucial part of the city's media ecosystem. They have numerous collaborations with other Hamburg-based companies, with a focus on sustainable partnerships, such as with Viva con Agua or FC St. Pauli. The Rocket Beans without Hamburg? Unthinkable. And vice versa.

A company is revolutionizing the German streaming landscape - from Hamburg. Why Hamburg in particular? On the one hand, there is the traditional Hamburg media industry, but even more so the charm and attitude to life that make the Hanseatic city unique.

As a media capital, Hamburg offers an unbeatable mix of print, digital, moving images and gaming: an unbeatable breeding ground for creative minds.

Like a big family: the Rocket Beans and their community

Lisa Handirk, Chief Communication and Culture Officer RBTV

The Rockets Beans and their community maintain a close relationship. The Beans want to be approachable for them - and, in addition to the constant digital exchange, offer office tours where fans can look over the shoulders of their idols.

Nowhere is the close relationship between Rocket Beans and its community more tangible than on a stroll through the hallowed halls in Heinrichstraße: numerous lovingly crafted mementos adorn the walls of its offices and studios. Rocket Beans co-founder and shareholder Arno Heinisch takes a look behind the scenes and shows the most beautiful fan submissions.

It is essential for us to work together. Everyone is invited to pitch ideas so that we can continue to develop.

The pioneers of live streaming

The Rocket Beans success story really gets rolling in 2015. While the topic of gaming was already attracting many fans, the areas of streaming and video on demand were still completely new territory for most viewers. What has happened since then?

Diversity is part of Rocket Beans TV's identity: not only in terms of the channel's numerous contents, but also in its business strategy. From spin-offs and fashion labels to format development, the Beans never stand still, but are constantly discovering new areas of development for their company - and are always celebrating success with their community.
